Board and Train

  • Ahead of the Pack Puppy Program - puppies can be a lot of work and getting them off to a good start is important. In this three week board and train program we work on building solid foundations, developing good play habits, housetraining, and instilling manners - all through play. What better way to learn than by playing games and having fun?! this program is Designed for puppies 10 weeks to 4 months old.

  • Basic Obedience Program- For Dogs over 4 months old. this program is designed to fast track our basic obedience curriculum into their three week stay with us and is ideal for those of you who may not have the time to be consistent with the training schedule required for success in our six-week group class. We offer the structure and consistency to help your dog learn to reliably offer basic obedience skills and manners, however the follow through at home to maintain what we have taught is 100% up to you. As with any new skill, if you don’t use it you lose it. This means that you will have work to do once your dog returns home. after our extensive two hour “go-home” transition session, where we train you - the dog’s human counterpart - on everything your dog has learned, it is your job to then implement those skills at home. don’t worry, we are here for support and questions anytime you need us.

  • E-Collar Program - in this 4-6 week program, we begin by training all of the skills learned in the Basic Obedience program. Once the dog is proficient in those skills, we add another layer of clear, Precise communication that the E-collar provides. We use the Mini Educator made by E-Collar technologies, which gives us the ability to dial into the lowest, but most effective working stimulation level Necessary to communicate with your individual dog.

  • Please understand that a board and train is not a quick fix. with any method of training - whether it be group classes, private sessions, or a board and train program - there will always be follow through and work required from you to practice, generalize, and maintain new behaviors at home. Your dog’s problematic behaviors did not develop overnight and correcting them will not happen overnight either. training is a life-long commitment, which we are excited to help you fulfill to better your relationship and strengthen your bond with your dog.

Group Obedience Training Classes

The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Pre-School course, designed for puppies ages 10- weeks to four months old, is a six week course aimed at setting your puppy up for success by addressing common puppy behaviors, building confidence, and setting strong foundations for future training - all while encouraging responsible ownership. at the end of this course you will be eligible to take the AKC S.t.A.R. Puppy test. For more information on the AKC S.t.A.R. Puppy Program, please click the link to the left of the screen.

Our six-week Basic Obedience course is designed first and foremost to teach you how to better communicate with your dog in a way that they will understand. once you have an open line of communication, you can then teach your dog to offer desired behaviors and extinguish unwanted behaviors. In this course we will cover basic obedience cues such as watch (focus), sit/down/stand, leave-it, recall, stay, and loose-leash walking. We use balanced training methods, meaning that these skills are taught using the most rewarding, effective, and safest training methods that work for your individual dog with their unique temperament and personality. This course is designed to help build confidence in both you and your dog and set the stage for your dog to live in a healthy, calm state of mind, all while having fun!

Advanced Basic Obedience builds on the skills learned in our Basic Obedience course, shaping and proofing those skills by adding distractions, duration, and distance. during this six week course, more complex cues are added to your dog’s Repertoire and we will continue to build your dog’s confidence by gently nudging them out of their comfort zone with new challenges each week. given that this class is much more intense and demanding of both you and your dog, we do require that you pass a skills test before joining the class. Requirements include:

  • 3-minute down/stay

  • 2-minute pLACE with minor distractions

  • solid recall from a down/wait from 20 feet away

  • sit/down/stand with a verbal cue OR hand signal without food lure

  • solid leave-it with items/food on the ground

  • loose leash walk with automatic sit
