A Lifetime of Learning

We have all heard the old Adage, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks”. Not true! Training can begin at any age and is a fun way to build a lifelong bond with your canine best friend by helping to unlock the happier, healthier dog inside.

Did you know that the most common reason dogs are surrendered to shelters and rescues is due to behavioral problems that can usually be corrected with some training, consistency, patience and communication? My job is to help you learn to understand what your dog might be trying to tell you and guide you in your approach to resolving these problems in the most Balanced and effective way for your Individual and very unique dog.

Whether you are looking to modify a behavioral problem, get started in an obedience course, teach your old dog some new tricks, try a fun new activity, or work towards having your dog certified as an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC), I am excited to help you meet your training goals.

I am an AKC aTT, CGC® and Trick Dog Evaluator and offer training preparedness within the AKC Family Dog program to provide fun and healthy activities for a lifetime of learning for you and your dog.

Six week courses for basic and intermediate obedience are offered for a more structured classroom experience.

My Mission

To Empower You By Opening Up An Effective Line Of Communication Between You And Your Dog In Order To Foster A Positive Training Experience.

About Me

From Very Early On, It Was Evident That Animals Would Play A major Role In My Life.

I Began Volunteering With My Veterinarian As Soon As I Was Old Enough, With The Intention Of Going Into Veterinary Medicine. I Quickly Realized That While I Loved The Technical And Surgical Side Of Veterinary Medicine, The Emotional Side Was Just Too Difficult. I Went On To Earn My B.S. In Biology From Augusta State University, Knowing That Any Path I Would Choose To Pursue Pertaining To A Career With Animals Would Start There.

Following Graduation I Became Involved In The Animal Side Of Medical Research At The Medical College Of Georgia. I spent About Seven Years there, but I Knew That research Was Not What I Was Meant To Do.

Then Something Happened…

In 2008, A Puppy Came Into My Life - A Cane Corso Named Orso. This Dog Impacted My Life So Intensely That He Would Forever Change My Path.

I Had Always Had Dogs As Pets And Been Around Many Different Breeds. But Orso Introduced Me To A Different Level Of Loyalty, Eagerness To Learn, Willingness To Please And Intense Intelligence Than Anything I Had Ever Experienced. I Quickly Realized That For Him To Reach His Full Potential, I Was Going To need To Learn As Much As I Could About The Breed And about Training such a highly intelligent dog. I Began Working Closely With Different Breeders And Trainers To Gain As Much Knowledge As I Could From each Of Them. I would then pull from that tool belt of knowledge to train orso with the training tools that i found to work best for him. I Was Hooked!

After Moving To Spring Hill, TN, I Developed My Own Breeding Program, Music City Cane Corso, And Worked With Several Amazing Trainers In The Area, each offering something different to add to my training tool belt.

I Worked My Own Dogs In Agility, Conformation, Tracking, And Obedience. I Also Started Working With Local Pre-Schools To Provide Dog Safety Classes With Orso’s daughter, Fiddle. I Knew I Had Found My Passion!

After My Son Was Born In 2012, I Began Training Full-Time And Have Since Developed Training Programs At Pet Resorts In Franklin, TN And Columbia, TN.

As My Training Has Evolved, I Have Realized That My Passion Is Not Only In Training Dogs, But Also In Developing A Unique Relationship With Each Dog So That I Can Then Apply A Customized Approach To The Training Methods That Will Be Best Suited For Each Individual Student.

Orso Taught Me What A Relationship Of Mutual Respect And Teamwork Between A Human And Canine Looks Like And Feels Like. I Would Like To Help All Of You Develop That Same Bond With Your Own Canine Companion.
